Bar Sathorn is an elegant, story-driven cocktail lounge set inside The House on Sathorn, a neoclassical mansion built in 1889 that anchors the W Bangkok complex on North Sathorn Road. The heritage building has lived many lives, having served as the private residence of nobleman Luang Sathorn Rajayukta, then the luxurious Hotel Royal under Italian proprietress Madame Adele Staro (1923-1926), and Thailand's first Soviet Embassy from 1948 to 1999, before AvroKO's restoration reopened it as a dining and drinking destination. Formerly known as The Bar at The House on Sathorn, the venue trades on that layered past: dark teak wood panelling, Corinthian plasterwork columns, coffered ceilings, plush leather seating and gilded, emerald-toned rooms create a refined, residential atmosphere more like a grand private home than a public bar. Led by Milan-born bar manager Marco Dognini, the menu of roughly 16 signature cocktails is structured as a narrative divided into four eras of the mansion's history, each drink paying homage to the building's story while championing distinctively Thai ingredients, sustainability and cross-cultural exchange. Standout serves include the Bangkok Brunch (pad krapow-infused tequila, Thai basil and salted tomato water), the Reinvented Bullshot served hot with tom kha broth as a nod to the Soviet years, and an ultra-premium page of Louis XIII cognac cocktails. Sustainability runs through the program, with herbs and produce grown on W Bangkok's organic rooftop farm. The bar debuted at No. 48 on Asia's 50 Best Bars in 2025 (its first-ever listing) and climbed to No. 17 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026, where it also won the Nikka Highest Climber Award. The drinks program celebrates high-quality local Thai produce that is often overlooked, building cocktails around indigenous herbs, wild chrysanthemum from Chiang Rai, and up to thirteen regional varieties of Thai honey, much of it foraged and tested personally by the bartenders. Its signature style leans on honey- and rum-forward drinks, such as the Eastern Honey served in a beeswax mug with gin, sesame, lime and wild-honey foam. The small counter encourages close, conversational interaction with the bartenders, so guests are encouraged to ask for a recommendation based on their preferred level of sweetness. On weekends the venue also opens during the day for coffee and coffee-based mocktails. Asia Today has earned international recognition, appearing on Asia's 50 Best Bars list. It draws a mix of curious cocktail enthusiasts, in-the-know locals and travelers exploring Chinatown's booming bar scene.

J.Boroski is one of Bangkok's most celebrated hidden speakeasies, tucked down a quiet, unmarked alley off Thonglor Soi 55 behind a curtained door. The bar is the namesake of Joseph Boroski, a former New Yorker and star mixologist known for his work behind Maggie Choo's, Clouds and The Iron Fairies, with the space itself designed in collaboration with fantastical interior designer Ashley Sutton. There is no menu here: after asking about your tastes, mood and preferences, the bartenders craft a completely bespoke cocktail using fresh local ingredients, exotic infusions and premium, hard-to-find spirits. The interior is understated industrial and steampunk chic, with leather couches, thousands of metal butterflies cascading from the ceiling, and audiobooks playing in the bathrooms. The experience is personal, theatrical and unhurried, making it a favorite for date nights and special occasions. The bar accepts only cash or QR-code payment, no credit cards. Behind a sliding wooden door lies a minimalist, brutalist-inspired space of raw concrete, wood and a marble counter, cozy yet slightly eerie, evoking an abandoned omakase restaurant with iron-grated windows drawn from old Thai architecture. The bar is helmed by Anupas Kong Premanuwat, who honed his craft over five years at New York's acclaimed Angel's Share speakeasy. The cocktail menu changes monthly and spotlights local ingredients sourced from the fresh market, with house drinks priced around 350-380 baht, such as a tequila-and-celery drink, a sherry and rose-infused vermouth creation, a 10 Herb cocktail with bruleed sugar, and a banana-chocolate drink with Fernet Branca. Natural wines are also available from around 320 baht per glass. It is a tiny, two-person operation with a strict no-standing policy, so advance booking is essential. The bar doubles as a patisserie, offering a dessert omakase created by executive pastry chef Sylvain Constans, with optional cocktail pairings. Reservations and smart attire are recommended for the refined, romantic setting.

Independence is a wine-focused cocktail bar tucked into the low-key side of Bangkok's Chinatown, on Maitri Chit Road a few minutes' walk from MRT Hua Lamphong. Opened in May 2024 in a converted former motorcycle repair shop, it trades polish for a raw, seductive vibe of graffiti-covered walls, fluorescent lighting and a design often likened to a New York subway platform. The concept is to strip the snobbery out of wine, letting guests explore traditional and natural wines, sake, port and vermouth without any pretension. These fortified and aromatized wines also become key ingredients in the cocktails, such as the Fake Ass Negroni, which twists the classic with Niepoort Ruby port, dry sherry, Sacred Rosehip and Contratto Bitter. It has been called arguably the least snobbish wine bar in Bangkok, and some coverage highlights inventive Isaan-Thai-inspired drinks alongside the wine list. The soundtrack leans indie, alternative and hip-hop rather than typical lounge jazz, reinforcing the unpretentious, easy-going mood. It is part of a hospitality group that also runs the bars Tax, Asia Today and G.O.D. Expect a young, in-the-know crowd looking for fun over formality; cocktails generally run 400-500 baht.

The cocktail menu is rooted in Godai, the ancient Japanese philosophy that the world is shaped by the interplay of five elements, and is curated by Michele Montauti, the hotel's Director of Beverage and Bars. The space is warm and elegant, with wood paneling, floor-to-ceiling windows, candlelit seating, a polished wooden bar counter and a grand piano. Nightly live music, featuring vocalists across a range of genres, adds to the intimate, high-end atmosphere. The hotel opened in April 2025 and is regarded as one of Bangkok's most exclusive addresses. Access is primarily for hotel guests, residences and Aman Club members, though outside guests may sometimes reserve in advance subject to availability. Reservations are handled through the hotel's booking system, and the crowd skews affluent, polished and international.

Door No.6 is an intimate speakeasy hidden inside a working, decades-old family tailor shop on Sukhumvit Soi 6 in the Nana area, a short walk from BTS Nana. The bar occupies half of a bespoke tailoring business that Nawin Satchasiree's grandfather opened on the soi more than sixty years ago, and the family has been cutting cloth there ever since. Often called the OG of Bangkok's speakeasy scene, it is a compact, confident bar that tells the story of suit-making through its drinks. The signature list is themed around the steps of tailoring, including The Measure (a martini-style drink with vermouth and fernet), The Stitch (built on a purple spirit from Phrae province, garnished with jasmine silk), The Press (a highball with Japanese tea) and The Button (a negroni twist with homemade herbal bitters and a chocolate-button garnish). Seating is deliberately minimal, with room for around seven or eight at the bar counter plus an interior sofa area, giving it a quiet, private feel despite the surrounding Nana nightlife. The design is a lavish blend of art deco and art nouveau, entered via a bronze spiral staircase and dressed with rose gold accents, marble, Art Nouveau chandeliers and whimsical touches like a paint-splattered communal table meant to evoke a bygone-Paris artist's loft. The cocktail program, led by Italian bartender Michele Montauti, draws on 20th-century creativity and the historic recipes of The Old Waldorf-Astoria Bar Book, from the iconic Rob Roy to house creations. Featured drinks include the Lalla Rookh (rum, cognac, rose syrup, lime, egg white, vanilla soda), the Waldorf Claret Cup (cognac, dry curacao, maraschino, lime, soda) and the Waldorf (bourbon, vermouth, chocolate bitters, Thai basil). It was honored with a Forbes Travel Guide Best Bar award in 2025 and is consistently ranked among Bangkok's top cocktail bars. The crowd is upscale and dressed-up, drawn by the heritage cocktails and the dramatic high-altitude setting. It sits at the premium end of the price spectrum.

Honest Mistake is a theatrical Shanghai-mafia-themed speakeasy in the Saphan Khwai/Ari area, hidden inside the Aqua lifestyle mall on Phahonyothin Road and reachable on foot from BTS Saphan Khwai or BTS Ari. Getting in is part of the fun: you walk down a dimly lit alley into a fake Chinese pawnshop, hand a bribe (around 300 baht) to a lady in a qipao, and take the key up a narrow staircase to the third-floor bar. Inside, it channels 1930s-40s prohibition-era Shanghai with neon red Chinese signage, US-1920s speakeasy styling and an old-school mahjong table under dim lighting that evokes a secret casino. The cocktails blend Chinese and Western ingredients and come in three broad styles: complex, sweet-and-sour, and flavored gin and tonics. Signatures include the JuJube, a complex bourbon drink with sous-vide dried jujube, Chinese wolfberry and mushroom, and the ChinaTown, a creamy vodka-based mix of homemade chestnut syrup, egg white and fragrant lemon Chartreuse. Live music and guest DJs typically play on Fridays and Saturdays. It draws bar-hoppers looking for an immersive experience beyond a standard Bangkok cocktail bar. The dramatic entry ritual and detailed theming make it a memorable, photogenic night out.

A live-music bar hidden on the 5th floor of NEXTOPIA inside Siam Paragon, opened in July 2026 and billed by the mall itself as one of its best-kept after-dark secrets. The room is styled as a night forest: a ceiling draped in hanging foliage, clusters of pale disc lamps floating like clouds, and a huge backlit moon disc behind the stage carrying the bar's astronaut logo. A live band plays every evening from 8 PM, with cocktails and a full kitchen running alongside - steaks, salads and Thai-leaning plates. The owners pitch it as a room that works whether you arrive with a group or on your own. Open daily from 5:30 PM until 2 AM.

Bar and restaurant in the EATELIER dining zone on the 4th floor of Siam Paragon, built around an unusually deep spirits list — rare, limited-edition and award-winning bottles, many available by the glass, plus curated whisky tasting flights. The room is unmistakable: blue-lit arches over a curved back bar, moss-covered walls with hanging greenery, blue velvet stools and waistcoated staff. Handcrafted cocktails are paired with a Thai-Western tapas menu developed by Benya Nanthakhwang of White Café. Open from mid-morning to midnight, it suits a shopping break as readily as a late drink.

Garden bar on the ground floor of the Anantara Siam, opening onto the hotel's Parichart Court courtyard. The room pairs a long lit bar with hanging greenery and mirror balls, and the seating extends outdoors under mature tropical planting. Cocktails are led by head mixologist Ryan Germino. The bar entered Asia's 50 Best Bars at number 48 in 2026.

Cocktail bar in a century-old shophouse in the Baan Trok Tua Ngork building, off Thanon Santiphap in the Old Town. The room runs on pale columns and long communal tables, with one wall given over to shelves of apothecary bottles that give the bar its 'delivered from groceries' idea. It comes from the team behind Bar Us, took the Best Bar Design award, and sits at number 69 on Asia's 50 Best Bars 2026.

Members' club and restaurant across the top two floors of JLK Tower on Sukhumvit, opened December 2025 under creative direction from Jackson Wang's Team Wang Design. Rong Supper Club serves modern Sichuan-Cantonese cuisine and dim sum from chef Benson Feng, Bar Won (from the team behind Seoul's Alice) pours the cocktail menu, and Yang's Club 94 is a members-only DJ room that opens later in the night; the Founder's Lounge adds a wine cellar and cigar lounge. The restaurant and Bar Won take walk-in and non-member reservations, while Yang's Club, the private rooms and investors' lounge stay members-only. Also open for weekend lunch, Saturday and Sunday 12:00-15:00.
