J.Boroski is one of Bangkok's most celebrated hidden speakeasies, tucked down a quiet, unmarked alley off Thonglor Soi 55 behind a curtained door. The bar is the namesake of Joseph Boroski, a former New Yorker and star mixologist known for his work behind Maggie Choo's, Clouds and The Iron Fairies, with the space itself designed in collaboration with fantastical interior designer Ashley Sutton. There is no menu here: after asking about your tastes, mood and preferences, the bartenders craft a completely bespoke cocktail using fresh local ingredients, exotic infusions and premium, hard-to-find spirits. The interior is understated industrial and steampunk chic, with leather couches, thousands of metal butterflies cascading from the ceiling, and audiobooks playing in the bathrooms. The experience is personal, theatrical and unhurried, making it a favorite for date nights and special occasions. The bar accepts only cash or QR-code payment, no credit cards. Reservations are strongly recommended given the intimate, hidden setting. It is regularly cited among the best places to drink and party in Bangkok's Thonglor district.
