Asia Today is an intimate cocktail bar tucked into the Soi Nana laneway of Bangkok's Chinatown, opened by the team behind the multi-award-winning Teens of Thailand. Set in a compact shophouse space that famously uses a fire-exit door as its entrance, the bar has a bold, playful attitude, complete with quirky decor, neon signs and a suspended shark. The drinks program celebrates high-quality local Thai produce that is often overlooked, building cocktails around indigenous herbs, wild chrysanthemum from Chiang Rai, and up to thirteen regional varieties of Thai honey, much of it foraged and tested personally by the bartenders. Its signature style leans on honey- and rum-forward drinks, such as the Eastern Honey served in a beeswax mug with gin, sesame, lime and wild-honey foam. The small counter encourages close, conversational interaction with the bartenders, so guests are encouraged to ask for a recommendation based on their preferred level of sweetness. Opened in May 2024 in a converted former motorcycle repair shop, it trades polish for a raw, seductive vibe of graffiti-covered walls, fluorescent lighting and a design often likened to a New York subway platform. The concept is to strip the snobbery out of wine, letting guests explore traditional and natural wines, sake, port and vermouth without any pretension. These fortified and aromatized wines also become key ingredients in the cocktails, such as the Fake Ass Negroni, which twists the classic with Niepoort Ruby port, dry sherry, Sacred Rosehip and Contratto Bitter. It has been called arguably the least snobbish wine bar in Bangkok, and some coverage highlights inventive Isaan-Thai-inspired drinks alongside the wine list. The soundtrack leans indie, alternative and hip-hop rather than typical lounge jazz, reinforcing the unpretentious, easy-going mood. Foojohn Jazz Club

Foojohn Jazz Club is an intimate live jazz venue on the second floor of the historic FooJohn Building, a renovated 1960s post-modernist landmark in the atmospheric Talat Noi district of Bangkok's Chinatown. Curated by a collective of jazz lovers, it has grown over several years into a key hub of the city's jazz scene, hosting live performances from a diverse line-up of local and international artists. The club runs Wednesday through Sunday from around 6 pm until late, with music the centrepiece of the night.
