The crowd is young, local and group-based, drawn from the surrounding Ratchayothin and Kasetsart student area, and it stands at the tables rather than sitting. Two things are worth knowing first. Buffet drinks may not be poured into the table ice bucket, and the venue enforces that rule with on-the-spot penalty charges; a large share of its Google reviews are disputes over exactly this, and over extra charges added late in the evening, which is why its rating sits well below the Bangkok average. Doors are 7 pm to 2 am daily and tables are booked through the venue's LINE account.
Banpuen Ratchayothin, บ้านเพื่อน รัชโยธิน, means friend's house, and the brand bills itself as a live house rather than a bar. It occupies the first floor of a building directly opposite Major Ratchayothin, a short walk from the BTS station, and it is by some distance the best-regarded room in the local cluster: close to 1,700 Google reviews averaging 4.9, with the music named in hundreds of them. The space runs over two levels, a mezzanine looking down onto the stage with tables and stools on both, and a bar along one wall beneath the chain's house-shaped neon logo. Thai bands and singers play every night from six and the crowd sings along rather than dances, which is the difference between this room and the clubs a few doors away. The kitchen keeps a short menu of rice dishes and stir-fries around 120 to 150 baht, and drinks arrive by the bottle with an ice bucket on the table. It belongs to a small Thai chain with sister rooms in Bangkok and Bangsaen, and the same operator runs Close Friend on the third floor of the same building. Vapes are not allowed inside. Tables are booked through the venue's Instagram or by phone; the website Google lists for it no longer resolves.
Creole Lounge Bar opened on 20 August 2026 on the second floor of the Royal City Avenue block, a few doors along from Route 66 and Onyx, which makes it the newest room on the RCA strip. The frontage is a dark panelled facade under a gold CREOLE LOUNGE BAR lightbox with a red neon line running above it, the fleur-de-lis from the logo repeated on the door panels. Inside it is deliberately dim: crystal chandeliers over the seating, blue and amber accent light, and a back bar of lit shelves holding classical busts between the bottles. The hours are the giveaway that this is a late room rather than a dinner one, with the door opening at 10pm and the kitchen running until around six in the morning. The first handful of reviews are almost entirely about the food and the service rather than a dance floor, which matches how the venue sells itself: food, drink and music, in that order. There is no phone number and no website, and the venue answers on Instagram DM only.
Roleplay is a bar and karaoke room on the second floor of The Hub on Phahonyothin, easy to walk past because the only sign is upstairs. The room is finished in red locker panels with the ROLEPLAY logo in neon along the wall and the ceiling, a bar down one side and low tables in the middle stacked with board games and card decks; the venue's own tagline is drink, drunk, dance. Live music runs Friday and Saturday, a duo or a small band in the 20:45 to 22:15 slot, with DJ sets and themed nights such as a K-pop hour filling the rest of the week. A separate karaoke room takes up to twenty people and is charged by the hour from 350 baht. The kitchen keeps a short list of Thai bar dishes in the 128 to 238 baht range. It is a small place, 4.9 over a modest number of reviews, and it opens Tuesday to Saturday only. Tables and the karaoke room go through the venue's LINE account.
Close Friend, signed CF, is a DJ bar on the third floor of a building on Phahonyothin Road in Chan Kasem, and it is the most club-shaped room in the Ratchayothin cluster. The floor is built around a circular DJ booth clad in exposed aggregate with a curved LED screen wrapping the wall behind it, washed green, blue and magenta, and the crowd stands around the booth rather than sitting at tables. The review keywords are almost entirely about the DJ, and reviewers describe the room as mostly students; booths get busy enough that people report waiting for one. Drinks run to bottle service with mixers and ice buckets on low tables around the edge, and there is a short kitchen list alongside. The room is on the third floor of the Banpuen Ratchayothin building, and the venue's own Facebook page gives the door as eight in the evening onward without naming a closing time; Google lists it as open around the clock, which is the listing rather than a schedule. No weekly hours are recorded here until the closing time is confirmed.
Thachang is the loud, cheap end of the Avenue Ratchayothin block, a pub with the round ท่าช้าง logo burning on an LED wall behind the DJ and green lasers over a floor of long shared tables. Drinks arrive by the pitcher with a bowl of snacks, the bar runs a wall of bottles with several staff pouring at once, and reviewers are consistent about the trade-off: the music is good and the drinks are cheap, but on a busy night the queue outside can run for hours and people do get turned away. Its own Facebook page, which carries 26,000 followers, gives the hours as six in the evening to two in the morning every day; Google's listing still says midnight. Typical spend is 200 to 1,000 baht a head.
The Corner House opened on the corner of Sukhumvit Soi 8 and is one of the newest bars on that stretch, rating 4.9 across its first months of reviews. It reads as a European corner pub rather than a Bangkok beer bar: a dark timber front under red awnings, and inside a long marble-topped counter with a lit spirits wall behind it, leather bar stools, booths at the back and screens showing sport along both sides. The draught list is the draw, with Guinness on tap around 170 baht a pint, and the happy hour runs an unusually long stretch, from eight in the morning to seven in the evening, with bottled beer at 95 baht and pints of Chang or Singha by the tower. The kitchen is more ambitious than the format suggests, doing pizza, grilled chicken and plated fish. It stays open to half past two, and the owner answers reviews.
Thonglor's newest music bar, open since 4 September 2026 on the fourth floor of Market Place Thonglor. The venue runs a live band and a DJ every night it opens and describes its own music as deliberately varied rather than tied to one genre. The room is built around a stage, with seated tables and standing room around it, and you can start at the bar without booking a table. Drinks only, there is no kitchen. Eight signature cocktails run 380 to 440 baht and several of them come as a mocktail for 300. Tables run on a minimum spend, from 5,000 baht Sunday and Tuesday to Thursday and from 8,000 on Friday and Saturday, with VAT and service already included and a deposit that comes off the first bill; the standing zone at the bar has no minimum on those weeknights. The opening weekend ran The Parkinson by invitation on the 4th and WIM on the 5th, and the first AMBR. Day Session brought Jesse Barrera in for an afternoon show on 14 September. Reservations run through the LINE account.
Cocktail club on Convent Road, set back in a quiet corner a few doors off Silom's busiest stretch and marked only by a wooden door and a full-height window. It opened in May 2026 as the second bar from Supawit "Palm" Muttarattana, whose Dry Wave Cocktail Studio sits in the top five of Asia's 50 Best Bars, with 2013 World Class Thailand champion Chanchai "Boy" Rodbamrung on the founding team and the 2024 champion Thanat "Kem" Suttirak as head bartender. The name is the concept: cherry stands for the modern, playful half of the drinks list and olive for the classic half, and both live in one book you flip over to read the other side. The signature YOURS list runs ten drinks per side, sorted by mood rather than by spirit -- Nosy on the cherry side pours tequila over beetroot, jackfruit vinegar and truffle, while Curious on the olive side builds rum around blue cheese and olive oil. Menu prices run 450 to 520 baht. The room is two levels: downstairs a long backlit stone bar with burl-wood fronts, olive-green stools and banquettes under low lamps, upstairs a mezzanine with counter seating and large sofas, with cherry-red and olive-green tabletops throughout. Food stays deliberately small, essentially olives -- a five-kind plate and an olive mix with chorizo and cheese.
A vinyl record bar on Naradhiwas Rajanagarindra Road in Bang Rak, a few minutes on foot from BTS Chong Nonsi. The room is built around the collection: racks of LPs fill the wall behind the counter and the turntables sit in the middle of the back bar next to the bottles, so whoever is playing works alongside the bartenders rather than from a booth. It opened in 2026 as the second bar from the DJs and record collectors behind Yayyyyy Record Bar in Lan Luang. Drinks are cocktail-led, the room is small and seated, and it runs every night from 6pm to 1am.
A wine bar on Mitmaitri Chit Road between Hua Lamphong and the western edge of Chinatown, run by the Barrel group. Behind a glass shopfront the room runs long and narrow, with a bar counter under a lit bottle rack at the back and low tables in front of it. The list is sold mostly by the glass, from around 190 baht, and leans European - Portuguese vinho verde, Spanish garnacha, Chilean and French reds - with snacks and small plates alongside. It opens Tuesday to Sunday from 6pm to midnight and is closed on Mondays.
A cocktail bar on the second floor above No Bar Wine Bar in Ari, which describes itself as an archive of ingredients. The drinks are built on Thai and Southeast Asian produce and the room is small and pale, with a bottle wall behind the counter, wooden stools and a handful of tables. Food comes as a short menu of African and Thai-influenced plates. It is open Wednesday to Sunday from 7pm to 1am, closed Monday and Tuesday, and reservations go through a call or an Instagram message.

A balcony bar on the third floor of the Merchant Gate Hotel above Song Wat Road, open from late afternoon rather than only at night. Inside, the bar sits under a full wall of records with the bottles lined up along the counter in front of them; outside, a handful of tiled tables look down over the Song Wat rooftops and a temple roof. NUL stands for Noon Until Late, and the room works two shifts: a bright corner cafe through the day, then a bar from 7pm until close. A cocktail bar in the White Cloud complex off Ari Soi 3, built on the idea of drinking at home. The menu is laid out by room - Living Room, Kitchen, Balcony - so the sections read as moods rather than spirits, from easy highballs to spirit-forward drinks, with house cordials, infusions and carbonation doing the work. A Japanese fermentation bar in Velaa Sindhorn Village on Lang Suan Road, built around koji rather than around a spirits back bar. The list runs sake, shochu and koji-based drinks, and the room is dark and narrow with a lit bottle shelf down one wall and a counter facing the bartenders. The entrance is a plain wooden door off the walkway with the name lit above it. Open every day from 5pm to midnight.
A lounge spread across the third and fourth floors of Gaysorn Amarin in Ratchaprasong, reachable on the skybridge from BTS Chit Lom. The design takes the Hanging Gardens of Babylon as its cue: curved timber tiers, planting spilling over every level and an open-air terrace on top. It runs on a Taste of Time idea, so the room changes character through the day - brunch and coffee in the Sky Lobby, wine and aperitivo at the Salone Bar from late morning, and from 5pm the Ionic Terrace and Pollen Bar, where the cocktails are built on flowers and botanicals and live music and DJs rotate through the evening. Contemporary tapas run alongside. Open every day from 8am to midnight.
A sapphic bar on the fourth floor off Pridi Banomyong 26, in the Sukhumvit 71 block, describing itself as a space for all women, sapphics and the wider LGBTQ+ community. The room is small and lit pink and purple, with low benches and folding chairs pulled around a bar at one end and windows down one side. Food is a short snacks menu - toasties, meal sets, burgers - at 99 to 199 baht, and the bar takes cash and QR only, with no service charge. Open 7.30pm to midnight and closed on Tuesdays.
A club on the 5M floor of EmSphere, the Bangkok room of the 404 Club brand, which the venue says runs in more than 30 cities. The floor is built around a central DJ booth with the crowd packed against it on three sides and table seating stepped up behind, all lit red and washed with laser and strobe. A wine bar on Charan Sanit Wong Road a few steps from MRT Bang Yi Khan, opened in August 2026 and one of very few places on this side of the river doing wine seriously. The room is pale and low-lit - marble counter, timber shelving, bottles standing along the bar rather than hidden behind it - and the list runs sparkling, white, rose and red by the bottle with a rotating by-the-glass selection from around 200 baht. A short bar-snacks menu covers truffle toast, cheese platters, sausages and late-night noodles. The staff speak English, which matters for a wine list this far from Sukhumvit. A cocktail bar on Soi Yothin Phatthana in Bang Kapi, behind a lit street sign that reads sounds, music, community. Inside, a long curved bar runs under an arc of light with a wall of bottles behind it and low stools along the front; the back room keeps more shelving and darker seating. A house-music lounge on the second floor above Cloud Nine at the mouth of Sukhumvit Soi 17, a short walk from Terminal 21 and BTS Asok. It opened in December 2025 and held its grand opening on 1 May 2026. The idea is a lounge by evening and a club after dark: rotating DJs play every night, relaxed enough for conversation early on before the sound moves into deep and Afro house. The room is lit purple, with a winged-logo bar, clouds hung from the ceiling and arched booths along the walls, and dancers appear on selected nights. Tuesday is Fuego Tuesday and Wednesday is Glow & Flow, a ladies' night. VIP tables carry no minimum spend on weekdays; at weekends the V section has a 2,000-baht minimum per table, and table packages run from 2,000 to 6,000 baht.
