Repeat Ari

Saphan Khwai, Bangkok

About

Repeat Ari is a live-music bar in The Hub complex on Phahonyothin Road, in the stretch between BTS Ari and Saphan Khwai, occupying a brick-arched corner unit whose windows open straight onto the pavement. The room is built around its stage: a low platform at one end under a copper dome and a mirror ball, with the bar and round tables facing it and a mezzanine looking down over the floor. Reviewers describe the ground floor as the place to be, close enough to see the singers work, and the upper level as the quieter option. The programming is Thai live music, house bands and singers through the week plus a weekend calendar of named Thai acts announced on Instagram, where the bigger bookings are marked fully booked weeks ahead. Google's review keywords put songs, atmosphere and live music far ahead of everything else, and the kitchen runs alongside the music with calamari, fried snacks and rice dishes; the venue reports a typical spend of 400 to 1,400 baht a head. Tables go by phone or through the venue's LINE account, which is the channel it points at for reservations.

Honest Mistake

Honest Mistake is a theatrical Shanghai-mafia-themed speakeasy in the Saphan Khwai/Ari area, hidden inside the Aqua lifestyle mall on Phahonyothin Road and reachable on foot from BTS Saphan Khwai or BTS Ari. Getting in is part of the fun: you walk down a dimly lit alley into a fake Chinese pawnshop, hand a bribe (around 300 baht) to a lady in a qipao, and take the key up a narrow staircase to the third-floor bar. Inside, it channels 1930s-40s prohibition-era Shanghai with neon red Chinese signage, US-1920s speakeasy styling and an old-school mahjong table under dim lighting that evokes a secret casino. The cocktails blend Chinese and Western ingredients and come in three broad styles: complex, sweet-and-sour, and flavored gin and tonics. Signatures include the JuJube, a complex bourbon drink with sous-vide dried jujube, Chinese wolfberry and mushroom, and the ChinaTown, a creamy vodka-based mix of homemade chestnut syrup, egg white and fragrant lemon Chartreuse. Live music and guest DJs typically play on Fridays and Saturdays. It draws bar-hoppers looking for an immersive experience beyond a standard Bangkok cocktail bar. The dramatic entry ritual and detailed theming make it a memorable, photogenic night out.

Old Dirty

Old Dirty is a gastro pub with a stage, on the ground floor of the AQUA complex on Phahonyothin Road between BTS Ari and Saphan Khwai, and at close to 1,900 Google reviews it is the most reviewed room in the area by a wide margin. It runs on two halves of the same space: a covered wooden terrace out front where most of the tables sit and where you can still hold a conversation, and an interior lit in purple and red with a bottle wall behind the bar under an OLD DIRTY LED sign. Bands and singers play through the evening from a small stage backed by a tufted purple headboard, and Google's review keywords put delicious food, atmosphere and music almost level with one another, which is a fair summary of the place: the kitchen turns out fried chicken wings, crispy pork and Thai bar dishes, and the fridges run Hoegaarden, Federbraeu and Brothers cider. Typical spend is 200 to 1,000 baht a head. The venue is marked LGBTQ+ friendly on its own listing and takes bookings by phone.

Roleplay.ari

Roleplay is a bar and karaoke room on the second floor of The Hub on Phahonyothin, easy to walk past because the only sign is upstairs. The room is finished in red locker panels with the ROLEPLAY logo in neon along the wall and the ceiling, a bar down one side and low tables in the middle stacked with board games and card decks; the venue's own tagline is drink, drunk, dance. Live music runs Friday and Saturday, a duo or a small band in the 20:45 to 22:15 slot, with DJ sets and themed nights such as a K-pop hour filling the rest of the week. A separate karaoke room takes up to twenty people and is charged by the hour from 350 baht. The kitchen keeps a short list of Thai bar dishes in the 128 to 238 baht range. It is a small place, 4.9 over a modest number of reviews, and it opens Tuesday to Saturday only. Tables and the karaoke room go through the venue's LINE account.
